Our artist of the month for September, Benezeri recently released a remix for one of his singles off the “Made in UG” album titled “Ndi Wabulijjo”. The remix which just like the original, is a massive dancefloor anthem features Reazy on the chorus, plus Pryce Teeba and Santana, and as of today, its video is out.
Directed by Chris Kobel for Clumsy Filmz, it features all the four artists on the song with all the rappers having playing a specific character. Benezeri is the hustler, Pryce Teeba is the counsellor and Santana is the rich don. The video’s story is synonymous with the subject of their lyrics which involved each of them attempting to convince the girl they are pursuing to stay with them even though they don’t have much to offer when it comes to lavish treats and luxury.
The bulk of the video is set in the front yard of a typical Ugandan suburban residential bungalow with the rappers having conversations with the girls, who have facial expressions that indicate that they are not that interested in the rappers’ pitch. Benezeri is one of the few rappers in the new wave that have mastered the art of making a collaboration that has the potential to turn into a big hit. On the topic of collaborating, this is what he had to say:
“I don’t look at rap as an isolated genre. I look at it as a smaller component of music. Therefore, I feel my songs must have a beautiful chorus with a nice melody. It should also be catchy… I also strongly believe in fusion. I think rap on its own can be boring to a layman and so I fuse with other genres.”
If you are one of those people that believe that girls should be more willing to compromise when it comes to the financial abilities of a prospective partner and support them in working towards achieving their dreams, this song will definitely work for you. Check out the video and don’t forget to share it.
