Holding the Light – J-Wats
J-Wats set out to have a steady run of singles this year and he’s doing just that. Having released “Fancy” as his first single of the year and followed it up with “Club Errday” featuring Rey Macc, he decided to continue putting out music along the lines of his newer and more varied sound that had been started with the release of “Brand New” in 2014.
He joined us on the show last weekend to premiere his latest single titled “Holding the Light” and told us a little bit more about his career. With the production handled by his usual go-to producer Rey Macc, the track is a blend of Afro-Beat and Dancehall that will definitely get you on the floor dancing, especially when the chorus drops.
During our chat with J-Wats, we got to find out that he plans on shooting a video for this single just like he did with the last one and that he has another collaboration dropping in a few weeks. For those that might not know, J-Wats doubles as a music producer and he has done some additional production work on some of the singles he has released.
And just to let you in on a couple of other things you didn’t know about J-Wats, when he isn’t doing music, he spends his time painting, which he is quite good at and tries to get better at as much as he does with the music. He has also been involved in some charity work with a couple of friends that mainly involved donating clothes and footwear to street kids in different areas of Kampala.
J-Wats has been creative ever since his childhood days seeing as he used to steal wires to make toy cars to play with. He also says that his high school friends would mainly remember him for being a very short kid.
Check out this party-themed single from the upcoming rapper and don’t forget to share it.
