One of the new names on the Ugandan Hip-Hop scene in 2016 is the rapper KSL. He first came to light as one of the members of the rap group Clansmen and then went on to release a couple of singles as a solo artist such as “Night Lights” and “Respect (Mbokya)”.
Currently, he has a single featuring Nutty Boi called “Kafulu” that is doing the rounds in Hip-Hop circles and enjoying significantly more acclaim than the previous singles. During the premiere of “Kafulu”, he told us that all these singles were part of an EP called “African Childhood Stories” that he said would be ready within two months already finished.
KSL has kept his word and as we wait for the video of “Kafulu” to drop, he will be having a listening party for the EP on the 24th of September at Rumor Has It (The Rumor) in Bukoto. The event will be starting at 6PM with music from DJ Regnic. Entry to the event will be free and if that is not enough, you will be able to get 3 beers for just UGX10, 000.
Amongst the people backing the event is Gifted Music Group and Talent Hub UG. The last time we heard from KSL, this EP was to have 8 tracks including collaborations with other artists outside Uganda. For those of you that have been following his campaign, this is the time for you to come through and support and for those that had only heard him on Clansmen songs, here’s a chance to get to know him as a solo artist.
With production from Lawraid Vybz, Eno Beats, Sliqteq and Ledra, each one of the tracks on the project will be addressing a different experience in his life as he was growing up. Make sure you tell a friend and show up with one or more on the 24th to support KSL.
